In an age of #TimesUp and #MeToo .. more and more women in the business industry are stepping into the spotlight and voicing their thoughts. But the thing is, as Meghan Markle recently raised in an interview with husband-to-be and Royal in-laws, they don’t need to find their voice – it’s already there.
“You’ll often hear people say, ‘you’re helping women find their voices’.
The recent news stories and movements of confidence and speaking up has really raised the profile of women who might not otherwise feel it’s their duty to shout from the rooftops about what they do and what they are achieving and there’s still an elephant in the room in the events world. Despite being a predominantly female industry, boardrooms are still dominated by men and there is still a significant gender pay gap.
As an events professional still in the fairly early stages of my career, I take inspiration from many different role models across the industry at all stages of their careers. When networking is key and social media is always present, there are so many opportunities to pick up inspiration and learn from others.
With a wave of fearless and feisty females leading the way – I’d like to dedicate a section of my blog to profile women who inspire me in the Event Industry, because “empowered women empower women” and it’s important to shout about people who hustle hard and are achieving great things.
